My skin and how it ages!
Our skin is our body’s largest organ and has many layers. The very top layer is called the epidermis, where our cosmetic creams, lotions and potions work. Underneath we then have the more structural layer - the dermis, where collagen, elastin and moisture are found which determines our skin’s overall quality and appearance.
As we age, the moisture and collagen, a fibrous protein that maintains skin’s elasticity, reduces. As a result of weakened collagen production our skin’s firmness and elasticity diminish, causing fine lines and wrinkles.
Here is where the motto ‘Beauty from Within’ comes into play, for all the lovely lotions and potions in the land cannot reach this vital layer of skin. To help support and protect this fabulous structural layer, it is here Pro Beauty begins her work.
Here at Inner Me it is all about a healthy lifestyle not just popping pills! Our fabulous nutritionist Amanda Hamilton has designed a range of Inner Menus to underpin the benefits of each of our products. So download here your weekly meal planner, shopping list and delicious recipes to boot!
Beautify Me Pro Skin
SKIN, HAIR AND NAILS
Maintaining youthful, peachy, clear skin is a shared dream for all women. So, what can you do alongside Beautify Me’s antioxidant rich formula to help you get that inner glow?
Too much sugar has an ageing effect on the skin. It links with collagen and elastin, making what’s known as ‘advanced glycation end products’ – this reduces the elasticity of the skin, making you look older than you are. It’s easy to eat large amounts of sugary snacks without feeling full. They tend to be low in fibre, protein, vitamins and minerals – so you increase your calorie intake without getting much nutritional value. Hidden sugars in processed foods and drinks are the biggest culprits so you’ll need to get label savvy.
Look out for sucrose, glucose, fructose, maltose, hydrolysed starch, invert sugar or corn syrup on food labels, and try to limit these. Also check the amount of sugars per 100g. If a product contains more than 15g of sugar per 100g, it’s a high-sugar food and should only be eaten occasionally.
When it comes to a healthy scalp and hair, protein is very important. Make sure your diet contains fish, lean meats, eggs and nuts. A palm size portion of protein is the perfect amount at mealtimes.
Silica and selenium in your supplement are fantastic for supporting healthy nails. Keep a watch on your iron intake too - plenty of dark green leafy vegetables and occasional lean red meat can be helpful. If you are vegetarian, make sure to eat a healthy combination of protein-rich pulses.
